Aug 26, 2024 - Developers filed suit in district court earlier this month against the city of Bozeman over the city commission’s vote to deny the Guthrie apartment building proposal. Fifth and Villard Apartments LLC alleges the commission’s denial of the Guthrie building proposal was unlawful and has asked the court to annul the vote and approve the development application. -BDC
Aug 27, 2024 - Bozeman airport expansion to be largest in Montana history. The airport handled 1.5 million passengers in 2019 and expects to handle 2.6 million passengers this year. "Overall, we expect this project to cost about 180 million dollars. It will be the largest airport project in Montana history," Sprenger says. - KZBK
Aug 28, 2024 - The Jarrett subdivision is a proposed development on 45 +/- acres of recently rezoned R-2 land just north of the Alder Creek subdivision. Of the 110 residential lots planned for this subdivision, 73 are expected to be townhomes and 37 are expected to be single-family homes or duplex lots. - Bozeman Real Estate Group
Aug 29, 2024 - A power outage impacted thousands on Wednesday, darkening neighborhoods for nearly two hours as NorthWestern Energy sought to repair an issue with a piece of equipment at a power grid substation. Around 9:40 p.m., power went out for about 12,800 customers in Bozeman. - BDC

Airport parking price hike
Effective Sep 1, Economy parking day rates at the Bozeman Yellowstone International airport will move from $10-$12/day. Premium lot A will keep at $15/day and covered lot C will increase from $20/day to $24/day.

Aug 27, 2024 - SEELEY LAKE — Production of new lumber products at the Pyramid Mountain Lumber mill in Seeley Lake has officially stopped. What remains now is getting the last of the product shipped out and prepping the mill for auction. 8KPAX

Sun Mountain Livingston Mill
Sun Mountain Lumber out of Deer Lodge, MT purchased R-Y Timber of Livingston in January of 2024. Operating for decades, RY Timber closed its mill in Townsend and suffered two fires at its Livingston location, partially closing it and affecting almost 70 jobs. Sun Mountain Lumber stepped in last summer and worked with R-Y Timber to purchase the mill recently. Sun Mountain Lumber, Inc. is a privately held, family-owned forest products company formed in 2004 when Deer Lodge residents Sherm and Bonnie Anderson. The acquisition was partially funded through a loan from the Montana Department of Commerce’s Wood Products Revolving Loan Program. -NBC Montana

Steel erection is complete the deck forming and river are also complete. The next step is to pour the deck and remove the forms. Project is on track to be completed ahead of schedule - Battle Ridge Builders

Volatility
U.S. gasoline futures fell to $2.1 per gallon in late August, reaching a nearly eight-month low as oil prices declined following news that OPEC+ will move forward with output hikes in Q4. Gasoline was down -10.09% over the last 7 days.
Steel is climbing out of its early August low of $2,832 up over 5% last week.
