Jan 29, 2025 Winter Kissed Farm in Stevensville, MT grows produce all year round. “We do it in unheated high tunnels, and we just grow a specific variety. The things that can stand freezing and dying and then coming back to life when the sun hits them,” Ruzek said. (Montana Ag Network). Jan 29, 2025 Montana lawmakers are grappling with what they can do to improve patient care and operations at the state’s psychiatric hospital since realizing that the efforts underway to restore the troubled facility’s good standing could take more time. In total, the Gianforte administration has requested that the legislature greenlight a one-time allocation of almost $61.5 million to continue to cover the cost of contracting clinical and nursing staff at the state hospital. The facility’s two-year budget, including that request, is more than $167 million. (KTVQ)

January 30 2025 Montana Department of Commerce announced today that two Montana tribes will share $240,000 of grant funding to support Indigenous entrepreneurship in Montana. (Commerce MT)
The Blackfeet Tribe will receive $89,400 to enhance meat processing and product distribution associated with the Blackfeet Tribe Buffalo Program in Browning.
The Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes will receive $150,600 for its meat processing office and retail modular unit in Ronan.

Jan 31, 2025 A cow in Augusta has defied the odds with the birth of her identical triplets. “That’s pretty rare; it's one out of 850,000 for that to happen, and that's pretty exciting,” said cow manager, Paul Wipf. (Montana Ag Network)
Jan 31, 2025 Missoula school board advances new smartphone policy. For elementary and middle schools, the policy prohibits the use of phones and other devices, like smartwatches or earbuds, throughout the instructional day. For high schools, staff presented two options for trustees to choose from. (Montana Free Press)
January 31st 2025 A nearly $1 million grant will be awarded to the Montana Department of Labor and Industry to support workforce reentry for individuals who were formerly incarcerated. (NBC Montana)

Montana Crude Production
Montana crude production is at a 10 year high according to the EIA US Energy Montana data. As of October 2024 we produced an average of 81,000 barrels per day, we last hit that mark in May of 2015. Montana’s field production high was in September of 2005 producing 101,000 barrels per day and hit lows in November of 1999 producing 38,000 barrels per day. (EIA)

January 30, 2025 Outlaw Real Estate Partners has broken ground on a new industrial development at Frank Road in Belgrade, Montana, US, for Ferguson, a distributor in the North American construction market. Vardaman Construction, the design-build contractor responsible for the recently completed FedEx distribution facility on the same road, has been appointed as the general contractor for the project. Construction for potential phase-two tenants is anticipated to commence in early 2026, with occupancy targeted for mid-2027. (World Construction Network)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Gallatin County, is now accepting applications for funding through the Open Lands Program for its “Other Eligible Projects” category. For Fiscal Year 2025 the County Commissioners have allocated 25% of available Open Space Levy money, or $1,094,198 for the “Other Eligible Projects” category in the form of grants through the Open Lands Program, subject to the criteria and process included in the application materials.
Slab before the storm
New mid winter slab being poured on Saturday February 1st for the Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing where Wolf Lot 14 is right now, North of the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. The nursing facility was one of the the six MSU buildings and facilities upgrades approved in the September 2023 regent meeting approving $151.2 million in budgeted upgrades.

January 30, 2025 A Wyoming Senate panel is demanding that Congress give the state all federal lands and mineral rights in the Equality State, except Yellowstone National Park. The Agriculture, State and Public Lands and Water Resources committee voted 4-1 for a resolution that demands Congress confirm by Oct. 1 its intent to turn over the property. Senate Joint Resolution 2, “Resolution demanding equal footing,” covers some 30 million acres “that derive from former federal territory.” (Wyo File)
